The Abnormal Familiarity of Us

Venue: Theatre503
Date: 15–16/04/2025
Type: Theatre

When sisters Reese and Ollie are brought back to their childhood home in the wake of their father’s death, emotions run high as problems from their youth bubble under the surface. Having lost their mother while they were children, the two sisters are left to sort through years of belongings. Sifting through, they stumble upon their mum’s journal and magic mushrooms from the 80s. Naturally, the sisters eat them, and find themselves watching their parents lives narrated by their mum. Seeing the young couples’ highs and lows, the sisters see for themselves the trials and tribulations their parents faced. Together, Reese and Ollie come to understand these people who brought them into the world, and ultimately work through familial traumas put upon them. The Abnormal Familiarity of Us is Libbi Moss’s debut play. ABFAB, as it was lovingly shortened to, began it’s life while Libbi was in her final year of study and went on to be performed first at Guildford Fringe Festival in the Summer of 2023. Since then, ABFAB has grown in length, becoming a full-length piece and finding a new home in Theatre503. ALJO Entertainment presents Libbi Moss’ debut play, directed by Tomas Howells. Running time: 65 minutes Age guidance: 16+
