Come along and enjoy a day of creativity, learning the traditional craft of willow weaving. In this workshop we will be focussing on how to make attractive and sustainable supports for your plants, using willow and traditional willow weaving techniques.
In this 5 hour workshop you will be shown how to make three different plant supports. A traditional circular support, good for plants like dahlias and peonies, stopping them from flopping over. For taller plants like sweet peas, you can make a willow obelisk and for very small plants, or as a form of plant protection, you can make a miniature willow dome.
Willow is a very versatile weaving material from which you can create decorative and useful items such as plant supports, garden sculptures, 'live' fences, firewood baskets and shopping baskets. You will learn all about the various types of willow you can weave with and the differences between living willow and dried willow. As well as becoming familiar with traditional tools such as the bodkin and rapping iron.
You will make one or more plant support which you can take home at the end of the day, plus the knowledge to make many more!
All material and tools provided.
