This is an exciting new band led by one of the UK's most promising young saxophonists R-J Gilbert. R-J first made a name for himself with the iconic UK based US-born drummer the late Doug Sides (Johnny Griffin, Abbey Lincoln) before more recently being featured with the band of award-winning UK drummer Clark Tracey. Tonight, along with Marcus Coates-piano, Macy Wright-bass & Kefan Hu-drums they will perform their own spin on classic standards as well as a selection of original compositions by both R-J and members of the band. Expect an evening of straight-ahead, swinging, bebop and beyond from some of the most talented young players on the scene.
