OS support

This device is supported by MacOS X 10.5–10.7. Any other configurations are unsupported by Apple.

Unsupported OS configurations include MacOS X 10.11–13.0.
Condition

This device has come from a major UK broadcaster and has obviously been kept in a very clean server room, because it is absolutely immaculate inside – no dust, even in the power supplies.

This Xserve has the usual scrapes on the top and edges of front face from sliding in and out of rack mounting positions.

All ports and drives are working (optical only tested for reading).

There are no rackmounts or locking hex key.
General

Although designed as a 1u rackmountable server this Xserve can be used as a ‘desktop’ machine, with the standard MacOS install – but is noisier than a Mac Pro due to the cooling fans. Will support multiple displays with appropriate PCI cards.

MacOS 10.5 standard. Although Xserves are supplied new with MacOS X Server, this device does not have the Server OS and does not have a Server OS license key.

Can be supplied with MacOS 10.5, 10.6 and unsupported OSes up to 13.

Video/Display
ATI Rdeon X1300 mezzanine card with mini-DV connection. Supports at least 1920*1200 at millions of colours.

PCI video cards are supported in the PCI slots.

Two 10/100/1000BASE-T (RJ45).

Ports
Three USB 2.0 (one on front face), two Firewire 800, serial port (DB9).

Rack mount
Device is rackmountable, but is not supplied with mounting rails.

Power
Two, hotswappable, power supplies for redundancy.
